Basic Bullet Journaling Supplies

My Bullet Journaling Supplies

These are a few of my favourite bullet journaling supplies that I reached for most often in 2021. They sum up all of my ongoing, and current favourites. I wanted to create a reference list for anyone who is getting started or wants to try and find new supplies to use. You can see my YouTube Video here for more information and to see me share more examples.

My Favourite Bullet Journal

Archer & Olive Dot Grid Notebook

Hands down, this goes to Archer and Olive, specifically, the B5 size Dot Grid Notebook. I love the size for allowing creativity and functionality. The 160GSM paper is my favourite and holds up to so many different art mediums. They have multiple size options (as I mentioned, the B5 is my current favourite), so you can journal in whatever size makes you happy. I am an Affiliate for them so I have included my Affiliate code, as well as a discount code: NML10 for 10% off.

I use paint pens, Distress Inks, Tombow Dual Brush Markers, watercolour paints, pencils, etc, and this paper holds up so well. The only medium I use that bleeds is alcohol ink like Sharpies. Otherwise, this is definitely my favourite! (I have done a more extensive review on a bunch of journals that you can check out here.)

My Favourite Pens

Archer & Olive Acrylograph Paint Pens

For 2021, I was all about the Archer and Olive Acrylographs! They are so fun to use and work over most mediums (that you would use in a bullet journal). They are so creamy and so opaque that they barely show anything underneath. Some of the lighter colours need a couple more layers but otherwise they are great!. I love the colour variety so much and never have issues match to my colour palettes.

For a more in-depth review and some troubleshooting tips (because they are paint pens after all), you can check out my blog post here.

My Favourite Pencils

Derwent Inktense Watercolour Pencils

My favourite pencils this past year were the Derwent Inktense Watercolour Pencils. They are so easy to use and so great for a watercolour effect without needing to know how to properly use watercolours. The saturation is just perfect and the colour variety is great. You can easily add shadows by adding more pigment. I use a water brush when using these pencils and it works just great.

I grabbed my pencils from Michaels, but you can find them on Amazon and various art stores. If these don’t quite fit into your budget, Crayola has released watercolour pencils as well, and even Ikea has a set.

My Favourite Stamps

Alphabet Stamp Sets

A quick go-to for custom headings is alphabet stamp sets. There are so many varieties and options for font, that the opportunities are endless. I would suggest spending a little more on a generic stamp set, or a set with multiple kinds of styles, to get the best value for money. You can always make changes by adding serifs, or additional elements, like highlights and shadows. They are so fun to use and, with a little bit of practice, really simple to use.

Some of my favourite brands include:

My Favourite Stencils

Erin Floto Designs Circle Habit Tracker

I have LOVED these stencils since I started using them in October, I keep going back to them and my last 3 Setup videos show them. The shape is so fun and different, and I find the squares line up perfectly with my goals and habits.

The sections are broken into daily, biweekly, weekly, and monthly, with a wedge for a title. The sections also allow for headings, and to add specific days for biweekly, or weekly tracking.

I hope you found this list of my favourite bullet journaling supplies helpful. As I mentioned throughout, I actually use these supplies both for bullet journaling and art journaling.  As more supplies are released and/or I’m exposed to different products, I will update this list accordingly.

If you have any favourites you’d like to recommend or have me test for you, please let me know and I will definitely look into! I’m always happy to discover new stationery supplies.
