I am finally sharing my July bullet journal setup using a popsicle theme. You can check out the video here. I really loved this colour palette and thought the popsicle theme would be perfect. This month’s lettered dashboard is a quote by Maya Angelou:

This layout is a little different for me. For one, I didn’t include a brain dump page since I only have one page left in my journal and wanted it available for options. The second difference for me is the layout. Since November, I have been using more horizontal layouts but July will be vertical. Honestly, I have mixed feelings about this ?.

Different for me this month was the use of vellum for an additional element on my cover page (more information below), and Derwent Watercolour Pencils and a water brush pen. I have been having so much fun with the watercolour pencils but more on that below.
July Bullet Journal Setup Tips and Tricks
Truth time: I did not like how my cover page turned out. The biggest issue was the lack of balance between the hand lettered page and the July cover page (for more information on this, check out this post). Since the page had already been finished, I was limited in what I could do to correct it. Thinking outside of the box, I printed some popsicles on vellum and stuck the vellum down with some washi. This way the pages were more balanced and visually coherent.
The next tip I want to share is about watercolour pencils. I have just started playing with them so I am by no means an expert but here is my general experience. I think they are a perfect introduction to watercolours. You able to get the watercolour effect without the unpredictability of using actual watercolour. I love that you can blend the colouring for a interesting visual aesthetic. Definitely a favourite of mine! I will do a comparison of the two. They aren’t necessarily equal but that way you are able to see the effects created by the different watercolour mediums.
